David Koehn

David Koehn, 67, of

Grand Forks and formerly of Munich and

Minto, passed away Tuesday, Aug. 2, 2022, at Altru Hospital.

A Celebration of Life was held Tuesday, Au g . 9 , at the Gilbertson Funeral Home in Devils Lake. Burial and military honors were at Fargo National Cemetery, rural Fargo.

David Jake Koehn was born June 2, 1955, at Egeland, son of Alfred “Sonny” and Irene (Greening) Koehn. He grew up in the Egeland area, attended Egeland Public School and graduated from Egeland High School with the class of 1974. He entered the United States Army on July 22, 1975, and served with the 101st Airborne Division. He was honorably discharged on July 20, 1979, with the rank of specialist fourth class and continued with the Reserves until July 1, 1981. He married Jill Regan on July 17, 1987, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Devils Lake. They lived in Munich where he worked for Aafedt’s Meats later purchasing the business. In 2000, the family moved to Minto and he worked for Strata Corporation, Grand Forks, until retiring in 2015. They later moved to Grand Forks.

 

 

He was a volunteer EMT, a member of the Sarles American Legion and Minto American Legion.

He is survived by his wife, Jill; sons: James ( Jordan) Koehn, El Paso, Texas, and Jacob (Carissa) Koehn, Hillsboro; daughter, Ana (Chad) Kowalski, Rockford, Minnesota; five grandchildren; brother, Charles (Tina) Koehn, Aberdeen, South Dakota; and sister, Charlene Altendorf, Minto.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and sister, Rachel Miller.
