Bemidji City Councilor Ron Johnson elected president of League of Minnesota Cities

BEMIDJI — Bemidji City Councilor Ron Johnson has been elected as president of the League of Minnesota Cities for the 2022-2023 term.

Johnson has represented Ward 3 of Bemidji for the last 20 years and works at Lakeland PBS as the promotion manager. He was the league’s vice president last year and is also the former president of the Coalition of Greater Minnesota Cities.

“Ron Johnson is a longtime member of the league,” Dave Unmacht, the league’s executive director, said in a release. “His dedication to Bemidji and the entire community of cities in our state is inspiring.”

Elected during the league’s annual conference, which was held over two days starting on June 22 in Duluth, Johnson will serve on the organization’s board of directors for the 2022-2023 term.

“We look forward to his thoughtful leadership during these challenging, yet exciting times for municipal government in Minnesota,” Unmacht said.

The League of Minnesota Cities is an organization with more than 830 member cities that are dedicated to helping cities throughout the state build quality communities through advocacy, analysis and collective action.
