Hortensia “Marie” Guzman, 84, Laredo, Texas, and formerly of Grafton and Grand Forks, passed away Tuesday, Oct. 6, 2020, at her daughter’s home in Laredo.
Services will be Saturday, Oc t . 1 0 , at 10: 30 a.m. at St. John the Evangelist Ca thol i c Church in Grafton. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be at St. John’s Catholic Cemetery. Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, social distancing and face masks will be required.
Hortensia Sepeda was born June 26, 1936, in Dilly, Texas, daughter of the late Margarito and Aurora (Flores) Sepeda. She grew up in Crystal City, Texas. She married Pedro Guzman on Jan. 12, 1953, in Crystal City. The couple lived there and in North Dakota until 1972 when they moved to Grafton and worked for Orville Gilleshammer Farms. She later worked at the Grafton Developmental Center in Grafton until retiring at age 65. The couple moved to Grand Forks. And in 2016 she moved to Laredo.
She is survived by her children: Endenia Guzman, and Celia (Arnold) Ramirez, both of Laredo, Alonzo (Julie) Guzman, and Peter (Marrilee) Guzman, both of Grand Forks, Fred (Sue) Guzman, Lakeville, Minnesota, Jesse (Irma) Guzman, Red Oak, Texas; 17 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; one greatgreat grandchild; sister, Irene Lara, Crystal City.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; two brothers and five sisters.
