One Vegetable One Community Project in Newfolden

The summer of 2020 is the year of the carrot for the One Vegetable One Community project in Newfolden. One Vegetable One Community is a community-wide gardening campaign focusing on uniting the community around planting, growing and utilizing an identified vegetable. It is sponsored and supported by the University of Minnesota Extension and the Northwest Regional Sustainable Development Partnership, North Valley Public Health and the City of Newfolden. This year the chosen vegetable is the carrot.

Most of the activities, such as a Kick-Off event, that were planned have been canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. However, there were several packets of carrot seeds given out from Sethre’s Foods, Underdahl Hardware, and the BrewHaHa Coffee Shop in Newfolden. If allowed, there will be an event featuring the carrot at the Farmer’s Market in August.
