Artha Travers, 92, Grafton, passed away Monday, Feb. 3, 2020, at Lutheran Sunset Home, Grafton.
Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, Feb. 7, at Grafton Lutheran Church. Visitation will be Thursday from 5- 7 p.m., with a prayer service at 7 p.m., at Tollefson Funeral Home of Grafton and on Friday for one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be at Grafton Lutheran Cemetery this spring.
Artha S. Nordbo, daughter of Aslak and Sophia Nordbo, was born Nov. 19, 1927, in Northwood. She graduated from Northwood High School in 1945, then attended Concordia College, Moorhead, Minnesota, and graduated from Mayville State College, Mayville. She taught at a couple country schools before moving to Grafton around 1960 to teach first grade at Chase Elementary School. On April 3, 1971, she married Willis Travers from Hoople and they made their home in Grafton for the rest of their lives. She retired from public school teaching in 1972 and opened a preschool in their home during the 1976-77 school year. She continued teaching preschool there until 1997 when she retired. In retirement she worked part time for the Squire Shop in Grafton and at Tollefson Funeral Home. She moved to Lutheran Sunset Home, in 2019. She was a member of Grafton Lutheran Church, its WELCA, circles and Primetime group, La Boheme, Fine Arts Club and Lutheran Sunset Home Auxiliary; as well as served on the Grafton School Board, Lutheran Sunset Home Board, Grafton Church Council and Park River Bible Camp Board.
She is survived by her son, James Travers, Grand Forks.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; brothers, Marvin Nordbo and Olaf Nordbo; and sister, Borghild Korsmo.
