Joyce Northagen, 89, of Grafton and formerly of Fordville, passed away Saturday, Feb. 1, 2020, at Lutheran Sunset Home in Grafton.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, Feb. 7, at Fordville Lutheran Church, Fordville, with interment in the spring at Michigan Cemetery, Michigan. Visitation is Friday for one hour prior to the service at the church.
Joyce Marie Studley, daughter of Bruce and Ida (Sommerfeld) Studley, was born Aug. 8, 1930, at Michigan. She was raised in the area and attended the Michigan School. She married Melvin J. Northagen in September of 1948. They lived at Michigan until 1967 when the family moved to Fordville. Joyce was a homemaker and raised her family in Fordville. She worked for a time at Park River Good Samaritan Center as a nurse aide. She was a member of Fordville Lutheran Church and Ladies Aid. After his death on Dec. 9, 2016, she moved to Grand Forks for a short time before residing at Lutheran Sunset home in Grafton.
She is survived by her children, Ione (Floyd) Alford, Grand Forks, Reane ( James) Daley, Park River, Jonathan (Tami) Northagen and Donald Northagen, both of Fordville; 16 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; and seven great-greatgrandchildren.
She was preceded in death by an infant son, Dennis; her husband; son, LeRoy Northagen; daughter, Paulette Hicks; grandson, Brent Northagen; and brother, Henry Studley.
