Robert G. Swanson, age 69 of Drayton, ND and formerly of Grafton, ND passed away on Sunday, July 22, 2018 at Vibra Hospital of Fargo, North Dakota.
Robert Swanson was born on November 10, 1948 in High Landing, Minnesota, the son of the late Oscar and Selma “Sally” (Lindblad) Swanson. He grew up and attended school in Grafton. After school he participated in Job Corps in New Jersey, where he learned welding. He returned to the area and attended Vocational School in Thief River Falls, Minnesota. He worked many skilled trade jobs around the area and became the “jack of all trades”. He worked for Motor Coach Industries for 25 years, retiring in October of 2013.
He loved to read, he read anything he could get his hands on. He also loved to cook, hunt, and fish. Robert was a member of the Kem Temple Shriners and the Masonic Lodge. He loved gathering with his friends for visits and thought the world of all of them.
Robert is survived children: Blane (Kathy) Swanson, Drayton, ND and Tawyna (Brent) Stroot, Thief River Falls, MN; grandchildren: Tiffany (Zach) Holter, Austin (Emily) Stroot, Jessica (David) Stroot, Kayden Swanson, and Zachary Swanson; great grandchildren: Kimberly, Melaina, and Colton; siblings: Gloria (Dan) Plante, Mentor, MN and Gary (Sam) Swanson, Orange, TX; many nieces and nephews also survive. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral services will be Saturday, July 28, 2018 at 1:00 PM at the Tollefson Funeral Home of Grafton, ND. Visitation will be Saturday for one hour prior to the service. Interment will be at Landstad Cemetery, Auburn, North Dakota
