​Fred J. Mondry

​Fred J. Mondry, age 86 of Ardoch, ND, passed away Friday, July 6, 2018 at the Lutheran Sunset Home of Grafton.
 
Fred J. Mondry was born August 2, 1931 in Grafton, ND, the son of the late Harry and Frances (Zabinski) Mondry.  He grew up on the farm north of Ardoch.  He attended grade school in a rural schoolhouse 123 near the farm and graduated from Minto High School.  He worked on the farm and was drafted in the U.S. Army at the age of 24.  He served in Korea for one year with the 43rdConstructions Engineers.  He met Arlene Korynta and they were united in marriage on November 5, 1958 in Ardoch.  The couple made their home on the farm near Ardoch, where they raised their three children.
 
He was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church.  He served on the Minto Farmers Elevator board for six years, as president the last year.  He was treasurer and clerk of the Ardoch Township for 34 years, on the truck hauling committee for American Crystal Sugar Ardoch for several years and he was a member of the American Legion Post 201 since 1958.  He loved farming and continued working until his full retirement at age 86.  He enjoyed traveling to Lake Havasu, Arizona in the winter months for 23 years with Arlene, where they became friends with people from all over the country.  He loved dancing, playing cards and socializing with family and friends. 
 
Fred is survived by his children:  Sam (Mary) Mondry, Forest River, ND; Bonnie Carlson, West Fargo, ND; Tim (Shari) Mondry, Forest River, ND; eight grandchildren:  Andrew, Stephen, Emily, Lucas, Alycia, Amanda, Stephanie and Lance; five great grandchildren:  Hailie, David, Isaiah, Abel and Lily; brother, Cyril “Bud” (Joanne) Mondry, Oslo, MN; sister, Dorothy (Allen) Berg, Turlock, CA; sister-in-law, Anne Mondry, Grafton, ND.  Several nieces and nephews also survive.  He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Arlene, brother Earl Mondry and nephew David Mondry.
 
Mass of Christian Burial will be Tuesday, July 10, 2018 at 10:30 A.M. at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church of Minto.  Visitation will be on Monday from 5-7:00 P.M. with a prayer service at 7:00 P.M. at the church.  Friends may also call at the church on Tuesday for one hour prior to the service.  Interment will be at the Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery of Minto with lunch to be served at the Minto Community Center.  Military Rites will be provided by the Minto American Legion Post 201 and the North Dakota National Guard Honor Guard.  In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the Lutheran Sunset Home or the Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery.
