Joseph Sebastion was born September 12, 1934, to Charles and Katherine (Boesl) Koehmstedt in Maida. He attended school in Maida and Mt. Carmel. On October 25, 1955, Joe married Kristine Bjorg Hilda Peterson of Milton in Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church. He and Kristine lived on the family farm in Maida and had four children: Cynthia (Jerry) Restad of Langdon, Rebecca (Jeff) Overby of Langdon, Larry Koehmstedt, and Jane (David) Hart of Langdon. He farmed until 2007 when they moved to Langdon. His love of driving allowed him to drive bus, beet truck, gravel truck and combines. He also pulled tanks for Simplot and continued driving his lawn mower up until last summer. He loved to travel so he and Kristine went on several trips, including Iceland. He loved being surrounded by his friends and family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He spent many, many hours in the gym watching his children and then his grandchildren participate in activities. He always loved to make people smile and laugh and lived life to the fullest.
