Raymond Carl Schrader, 95, of Pharr, Texas, passed away Wednesday, October 25, 2017 at the McAllen Medical Center.
Raymond was born February 17, 1922 to Jakob and Laura (Weber) Schrader. He attended Hay School #3 in Hay Township where he met his wife to be Muriel Ann Bowles. They were married June 15, 1944 and then lived on and farmed the Schrader family homestead until moving to Langdon after his retirement. They were members of the EUB church at the 10 mile corner and later the United Methodist Church in Langdon. They spent their winter in the Rio Grand Valley in Texas where Ray later lived year round.
He is survived by his two children: Darrel Roger (Susan Marko) of Kansas City, Kan. and Mardell Rae Barker (Robert Baker) of Battle Creek, Mich.; two grandchildren: Michelle (John) Nygaard of Seattle, Wash. and Alyssa (Doug) Dienhart of Kansas City, Miss.; and three great-grandchildren: Jakob Nygaard of Seattle, Wash., Louis and William Dienhart of Kansas City, Miss., as well as many niece and nephews, family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents and wife, as well as his sisters: Alverda (Walter) Luhmann of Langdon, Dorothy (William) Ritchey of Langdon, and Wilhelmina (Wesley) Moritz of Cavalier; his granddaughter, Heather Ann Schrader, as well as John Nygaard (married to his granddaughter Michelle).
A memorial service will be held in Langdon at a later date.
